I like my

quite a lot. On of the few complaints I have about it is the little single note horn, which is genuinely dismal:
Aftermarket horns are a quick remedy for this, and while I’m not one of those overzealous people that wants a set of massively loud airhorns to go around blowing at all who displease me, I would like something with more of a “big car” sound. The

seems to fit the bill nicely. I just want to make sure before I order a $6
0 set of horns off Amazon that they will, in fact, fit my car. The Jetta, as I mentioned, has a single horn and I have no idea if that horn has 1 or 2 terminals. What is the likelihood that if I order

, they will be fairly straightforward to hook up?

Come on, there’s only 2 possible answers to this:
And the first answer is the correct one.

I would love the horn from a 600 or more realistically
an old Cadillac 4-note, but that would be too much of a PITA to track down and install.

A 600 horn would be overkill on all but a very few cars. And I’m sure they cost a fortune.
The one you linked sounded pretty good, I thought.

I’m told one of my horns isn’t working. Sounds fine to me though. I might try some aftermarket horns at the problem if they were easy to reach, but I get the sense they aren’t. Horns seem like they should be pretty durable anyway, so I get the sense that it’s something that is likely to be more work than I want to track down.

If I had that 600 horn, I’d camp out at train crossings out of sight and see how many motorists I could freak out.

That’s strange, my horn is quite loud.

This is a mod I’ve considered doing to my Accent....it also has a pretty weak, dinky single-note horn.
Can’t find a sound clip of it, but it at least looks like it would be pretty easy to get to. The top clips can remove of the bumper and gently pulling it forward gives decent access.
Of course....it gets even easier when you take the bumper off. :P
As for yours, it should be OK, but make sure the new horns will work on the voltage and amperage supplied by the stock horn circuit.

Having spent a lot of time in two American designed VW’s, I’ve noticed a lot of things are different, often less clever.

My Jaguar needs a better horn too - I think it has 3 but only one seems to be working. At least once I get my Nardi installed it will have a less terrible horn button.
